Givenchy F/W15 New Line Shoulder

MATCHESFASHION calls it the New Line Shoulder, Givenchy just calls it the ‘medium flap bag’. Anyway it doesn’t matter, since here at Bagaholicboy, we (and by we, I mean I) look beyond what it’s called or where it’s from. What’s more important? If the bag looks as good as it works, how much it costs and of course, if it’s a worthy enough candidate to be sitting in your bag wardrobe for at least the next 6 months, if not longer.

So what’s the New Line Shoulder about? At its very core it’s simply a shoulder bag, one you can only wear over the shoulder via its adjustable sling. And if it’s too long, you could double-loop the sling for a shorter tighter fit against the body. Measuring some 24 cm by 19 cm, it’s leather on the inside and out for that extra touch of luxe because God forbid a toile canvas lining on a bag as elegant as this.

Featuring an arrowtail flap that centres over a small push-lock clasp, it comes detailed with contrast stitching on the edges, which is a nice touch, if I might add. Priced at around SGD3350 over on MATCHESFASHION for the ones in calfskin that come in Black or Brown, you could also go all out and get the one in exotic lizard, for example.

My conclusion? Sure, it’s not the cheapest full leather sling bag around, but if you’re sick of all the others being much too common or too expensive (Givenchy didn’t call it a flap bag for nothing, get it?), you could add it to your list of considerations for something that would look good for work in Black and play in Brown.
