Apple 2015 MacBook

apple_macbook-gold1 Better late than never is how I’ll describe Apple’s latest MacBook offering that’s due to be launched worldwide come 10 April 2015. Touted as the ‘lightest and thinnest Mac ever’, it will come with all the bells and whistles we’ll all need to surf Facebook and shop online, but more importantly, it will also come in Gold.

apple_macbook-gold2 Much like the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus, it will come in colours Space Grey, Silver and Gold, with a grand total of 2 models available, a 256GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage* one that will cost SGD1788, while the 512GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage* will set you back by SGD2288. Most importantly it will come in Gold. Which, as far as I’m concerned, is the be-all and end-all as far as the MacBook is concerned.

apple_macbook-gold3 Sure, Silver is nice, and Space Grey is almost black which also makes it rather cold, but no gene in my Asian body will ever say no to Gold. Yes, gold. Like what kryptonite does to Superman, I get all weak-willed and wallet-compliant when it comes to anything gold. In other words, I’ll be putting in my order come 10 April.

*Don’t know what it means exactly, and it doesn’t really matter, right?

Do you have any recommended cases or sleeves for this beauty? Most on the market are designed for the 13″ and don’t fit snug.

  • People should really look at why they want to spend the money. Do you have money left and you want something new and shiny? Ok do it. However, do you already have a MacBook Pro/Air then it isn’t any better in terms of performance instead of maybe the screen.

Also if you are a Photoshop user and have some editing/creative/game things it really isn’t the computer for you. Next to that if you use USB ports you have to buy the extra extender which will also cost you EUR80 and you will only get 1 USD port… I also read from reviews that a lot of the people that tested it say that the keyboard is not really what they expected it to be while others say it was better. So I would say: test it out in store, go through the pro’s and cons and then decide. (FB)

Hot in an Empire kind of way. Plus, it’s out on my birthday. How not to like? (FB)
