If you are in your 30s this year, you would remember Nina Ricci which was a rather popular brand back when you were growing up, alongside names like Sonia Rykiel and MCM. And while some have remained relevant or made a comeback, Nini Ricci has had good years and bad years, changing head designers more frequently than Lady Gaga’s costume antics.
With Peter Copping at the helm since 2009, things have been getting better. And while the brand isn’t especially known for their bags as yet, there are gems to be found from time to time, like the Nina Ricci Marche which is also the subject of today’s post.
Measuring some 37 cm across by 25 cm, it ticks many of the boxes for me, from its soft, relaxed silhouette to the elegant pleats that form part of the bag’s handles. Discreetly labelled with side tabs that can be unbuttoned to allow for a more generous interior, it’s versatile too, with a pair of top handles as well as an adjustable shoulder sling for added function.
Priced at GBP1270 and now available via Net-A-Porter, it’s a great alternative for those now bored with the sameness of Céline but still want something elegant, understated and maybe, a tad more special.
