Just because you are a huge fan of any brand doesn’t mean you have to automatically like everything they put out. Unless of course you were a fanatic, which also means this post won’t mean anything to you. And even though I’m a self-confessed fan of most everything Chanel, there are still releases that stump me from time to time.
Take the Chanel Metallic Patent Phone Holder, for example, that’s part of the S/S14 collection at the French house. Measuring 15 cm by 9 cm by 4.5 cm (that’s how wide it is on the inside), the brightly-hued calfskin or lambskin phone holders are made for exactly that, to hold mobile phones. Said to contain 3 phone compartments (does it mean it will comfortably fit a trio of iPhone5s?), they are also topped off with a Chanel signature, the long braided leather and metal chain that means you can sling it across your body with ease.
Available in 8 different colours (one for every outfit combination under the sun perhaps?), they are priced at either SGD1980 or SGD2050, which I’m assuming is because of either the leather (calfskin versus lambskin) or the fact that the one in muted gold costs a tad more.
So why am I stumped, you ask? While I think the colours are great and all, I don’t see the point of having a dedicated ‘bag’ just to hold your mobiles, which seems a tad excessive. Then again, my love for Chanel’s canvas backpack may also be deemed excessive by some, so I guess we are even.
