Truth be told, in the 10 years I’ve been with my better half, I’ve never been able to make him wear any piece of jewellery I’ve ever bought for him because frankly, wearing bling, either on his fingers or around his neck, has never been his style. In other words, all my hopes of getting ourselves a pair of matching love tokens were permanently dashed. Because while I can do without diamonds, he’s not a fan of anything with too much gold either, which rules out anything of value which the old-fashioned one in me always believed to be important as far as such things go.
So when I spotted this in Paris, my hopes were raised. Created in 1924 by Louis Cartier as a symbol of never-ending love, the 3 different golds used on Trinity also meant different things. Pink for love, yellow for fidelity and white for friendship. Measuring less than 1 cm across (actual size shown above), the tiny rings are worn on the wrist like a bracelet by way of a black cotton cord that can be adjusted to fit snugly.
Wear it on its own, or stacked with other bracelets, it can be as loud or as discreet as you’ll want it, and not unlike a ring, a constant reminder of your relationship with your loved one. Priced at SGD740, you could also opt for cotton cords in different colours but that will be subject to availability at your local Cartier boutique.
The good news? He’s wearing his right now.
