Just so that we are clear, this post isn’t about why the 3rd model from the right looks so much like an elf from the Lord of the Rings; instead it’s about the bag that he (I mean, she) is clutching in Lanvin’s S/S14 ad campaign that sadly looks like a glammed up trash bag at first glance. But it’s not.
It’s what Lanvin is calling the Paper Bag, made of ‘papyrus leather’ which is actually really thin lambskin that’s given a shiny metallic finish. And to keep it really light, the interior is made up of cotton and polyester, with the only other heavy bit of the bag made up of the chain handles.
Available in 4 different sizes and a plethora of finishes, you can carry it over the shoulder or ‘crushed’ in your hand, the bonus being a tiny pouch that can be found on the inside which you can remove and use as a clutch on its own. Priced in the thousand euro range (I don’t have the exact prices for all 4 sizes as yet), it’s something you’ll find either very chic or an extreme eyesore, depending on which side of the fence you’re on. What do you think?

2 words. THIN LAMBSKIN. Forget it. You’ll need to put the Paper Bag into another paper bag to tote it about.
I can’t… get behind this. Love Lanvin, but the only people who carry trash bags as purses are crackheads and kids with homemade lunches. Exhibit; every damn city.
Chic yet hard on the eyes. (FB)
