You’ll be forgiven too, if at first glance you wondered why I was suddenly blogging about gold bars, which is perhaps also the best way to describe Balenciaga’s new Classic Money in Valentine’s Day Gold (I swear I did not come up with the name).
Taking the saying ‘all that glitters is not gold’ to new heights, this is in fact specially treated leather that’s made up of hammered calfskin and treated with a shiny mirror effect, much like Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Miroir in case anyone needs a point of reference. What’s more interesting is perhaps the fact that Balenciaga isn’t even doing anything in pinks or reds for Valentine’s Day this year and going straight for the heart. Or in this case, a bling-loving heart of Asian descent. Because we all know how much Asians love their gold.
Priced at GBP350/USD550, I don’t have any word on how much it would cost in Singapore or if it will even be available locally, so do stay tuned for another update soon.
