Consider this your oddity of the week. Found off Edluxe which aims to offer ‘high quality, unique and limited designs’, I chanced upon the Tesler Mendelovitch Great Ebony Clutch, a visually striking, almost sculptural piece that’s rather more home furniture (say, a sideboard) than a clutch.
Made of rare Ebony wood from Sri Lanka that I do hope is legitimately sourced, the clutches are wood on the outside and leather on the inside, with promises of it being lightweight, hardy and roomily spacious. Measuring 40 cm across by 22.5 cm, the Great Ebony Clutch is priced at SGD1060, which isn’t so bad for something that’s touted to be artisanal and created with much care. Or is it? What do you think?
