‘So wrong it’s right. So right it’s wrong.’ These were the first 2 things that popped into my mind when I spotted the Valentino + Havaianas collection at the Spring-Summer 2014 press preview that was held today at ION Orchard. Besides being totally smitten with the pairs that were a stunning composition of studs, camouflage and bright neon hues, while 2 more featured more soothing hues like pale pink and light grey.
Almost as genius as the Kenzo and Vans collaboration that was well-received by the young and the affluent (and more importantly, introducing a whole new demographic to the French fashion house), this collaboration between Valentino and Havaianas could do exactly the same for them.
Priced at SGD350 a pair and available in Singapore from January 2014, you can now head down to Valentino ION Orchard and reserve your pair by paying a full deposit, something the store will do till sizes and colours run out. Which will be soon, given how limited the pieces are.
Now for the bad news. Only available in sizes for the ladies up to EUR39/40, the guys will have to wait and see if Club21 is bringing anything in. Or buy online when they become available, which is what I’ll probably be doing. And if you boys think the one in camouflage is way too fancy, there’s also a selection of solid-hued ones that come with alligator (yes, real alligator) straps that will retail in the region of EUR500 a pair. Over the top yet extremely desirable (am I the only one who thinks this way?), I’ll do more updates as soon as more information comes in.
Meanwhile, however, do excuse me while I go make up my mind on which pairs I’ll be getting. What do you
