While you may or may not have already decided on which particular pieces you’ll be adding to your wardrobe from H&M’s latest collaboration with Isabel Marant that launches worldwide tomorrow, I thought it would be apt to chime in now and give you my 8 cents’ worth. And while it might sound odd to those who are reading this for the first time, men will be buying women’s pieces, women will be buying men’s pieces and everyone will be wanting something from the girl/boy collections.
Priced from SGD39.90 and up, I’m expecting most everything from the kids’ collection to sell out pretty fast first, what with sizes going up to age 14 and our smaller Asian builds. And of course, every doting parent and their uncle (that’s me) will also be grabbing pieces for their little ones, especially any sweatshirt or hoodie with ‘Smile’ embroidered across it. Also hot are the kids’ shoes (slip-ons and sneakers) and the coats, which I know many a lady are eyeing for that fitted cropped look.
The women are quite spoiled as far as the collaboration is concerned, with Isabel Marant devoting twice as many pieces as compared to the men. The good news is that many of the pieces in the women’s collection are also unisex, especially the tees (short and long), the reversible brocade bomber and the colour long wool coat that comes with a hood. The men don’t fare too badly either, loving the thin zebra-print tees that will do well in our climate, the oversized coats for their weight and structure and of course, the sweatshirts that come in classic grey or red zebra-print.
I could go on and on (and seriously, I just realised there are more than just 8 must-buy pieces), but I need to get ready for the pre-shopping event in Hong Kong at the special H&M + Isabel Marant pop-up store in about 3 hours. Stay tuned to my Instagram account for up-to-the-minute updates (hopefully I’ll be able to multi-task whilst shopping), and feel free to leave comments if you have any more questions on the collaboration.
