Gucci has a great thing going as far as their iconic Bamboo motif is concerned, which after being reintroduced a few seasons back in the from of the New Bamboo, is back this season in the form of the Bamboo Lady Lock that’s another beauty in my books.
Boys needn’t feel left out either, what with aviators and loafers adorned with little bamboo pieces, and then there’s the Gucci Bamboo Black Leather Backpack from the F/W13 collection that’s a statement in itself.
Cleverly opting for a grained leather backpack that’s basically unfettered and streamlined, Gucci lets the bag’s single most distinctive feature, the bamboo handle, shine by keeping everything else pared down with hardware kept to a minimum in burnished gold for that old-world feel. Sporting a drawstring closure with a large flap that can be secured by way of the pair of buckles on the front, it also comes with a pair of zip pockets placed one on either side for all your smaller bits and bobs.
Priced at SGD5440 and now available at Gucci boutiques in Singapore, the price and its weight (it is full leather after all) may be off-putting to some, but it is one piece you won’t regret getting because there’s just something extra special about it. It could be its rugged good looks, or the fact that it’s hardy and hardwearing, or even that it is pretty roomy on the inside. I would know, I’ve got the exact same one in my collection and it’s made me a backpack convert ever since.
