A veritable icon as far as the Italian luxury house is concerned, the Bamboo certainly needs no introduction, having been a hallmark of high society and movie stars since the bag was introduced in 1947.
65 years on, she is still as relevant today as she was back in the 40s at Gucci, the Bamboo reinterpreted and reinvented into new bag styles including the elegant Lady Lock and the functional Bamboo Shopper.
And to celebrate all things Bamboo, Gucci has launched a new campaign called Bamboo Confidential, filmed in London’s famous Savoy Hotel where founder Guccio Gucci worked his way up the ranks and became an elevator attendant, a huge honour back then, as it was also where the world’s first electric elevator was installed. Which will also explain my collaboration with Gucci on the #guccibamboo project, where bloggers/influencers from around the world (including yours truly from Singapore) will be submitting their snapshots of selected Bamboo bags in elevators as an homage to Guccio.
Look out for my #guccibamboo snapshots taken at Singapore’s grand dame Raffles Hotel which I’ll post on Instagram soon, and I’ll be back to tell you more about the Lady Lock at a later date. But for now do enjoy the campaign video featuring a clandestine femme fatale, a persistent photographer and the pair of Bamboo bags.
