Apple today released news regarding the two new iPhone models that will be available for pre-orders online from 13 September which is just 2 days away. And while I can’t say I’m more excited today about it, what with all the info already leaked regarding the 2 new phones in previous weeks, there were a couple of surprises.
The iPhone5s will come with some nifty fingerprint scanning technology that would allow you to unlock the phone (bye bye passcode) which is very James Bond. The camera is also supposed to be better, there’s a new A7 chip and something called iOS 7 but because tech blogs will do a much better job explaining what it all means, I’ll just focus on the fact that I want the one in Gold. That’s it. Really. Which will cost SGD988, SGD1148 and SGD1288 without contract for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively.
And then there’s the iPhone5c, made of a hard-coated polycarbonate body that will be available in 5 different colours. Priced not much lower than the 16GB iPhone5s (yes, ‘c’ does not mean cheap after all), the iPhone5c will only come in 16GB and 32GB models and will be priced at SGD848 and SGD988 respectively.
More interestingly, Apple will also be selling iPhone5s and iPhone5c cases to complement their new models. Available in 5 colours, the ones for the iPhone5s are made of leather and priced at SGD58 each, while the ones for the iPhone5c are made of silicone (shown above), come in 6 colours and will sell for SGD42 a pop.
So what will it be, guys? iPhone5s, iPhone5c, or #idontcareanymore? You tell me.
