It’s official. I have lost track of all the Heroine variations that Alexander McQueen has been putting out of late, which while could be a bad thing for other brands isn’t necessarily so for the British brand now headed by Sarah Burton. Each more interesting than the next, the Heroine has evolved from a structured frame bag in different sizes and finishes to a pair of shoulder bags (one sassy, one slinky), all of which I’m rather fond of and blogged about previously.
And for today’s post we’ve got the new Alexander McQueen Leather Heroine Tote, another variation of the Heroine that looks nothing like the original (yes, even I am slightly confused). Still, the Leather Heroine Tote has enough merit to warrant this post, from its ample-enough size of 36 cm by 17 cm (it’s about as big as a Birkin35, right?), its snazzy shield-shaped gold-finished hardware embellishments, as well as the little metal rings around each handle for a look that’s modern and elegant without all the extra fuss.
Finished in polished calfskin, the bag is nicely compartmentalised on the inside, from the divider in the middle that’s good for small tech tablets to a smattering of patch and zip pockets for all manner of essentials. There’s even an additional pouch located within, though I’m not 100% sure if it is detachable and can be used on its own.
Available on Net-A-Porter now for GBP1765, the best thing about it (besides its good looks, of course) is the fact that you can zip the whole bag up and leave nothing to chance, a feature that will comfort those who worry about bits falling out or prying hands.
