As much as I love slim leather briefcases that are all sleek and minimal, it isn’t practical in this day and age when the typical working man has more to bring to and from work. Besides the usual file and documents, there’s also a laptop, a tablet or two and maybe even some gym gear for the quick workout after office hours.
You could lug around two bags (which is what I see all the time at my gym), or you could get a really huge holdall, which just ends up being clunky and getting in the way. You could also check out the Burberry Heritage Grain Leather Briefcase, a new F/W13 addition that’s quite possibly just right.
Measuring 39 cm by 30 cm by 8 cm, it’s a good enough size for your essentials so long as you keep its contents tidy. Too small and it won’t hold anything, too big and you’ll end up with way too much, including that extra pair of gym socks you probably didn’t even need in the first place. I also like the fact that the SGD2795 bag is made of grained leather that’s supple yet rather hardy, good for those guys who tend to be less careful about their belongings.
It also comes with a removable shoulder strap and a slot at the side that lets you lock the bag with the provided padlock, another bonus especially when you’re travelling and want to keep your contents safe, even if it is just in the overhead compartment above you. Available in Black, Bright Tortoiseshell and Dark Marigold, you just need to decide on the colour.
After that you can either pick it up online via Burberry, or head down to any of their 4 stores in Singapore, including the recently revamped boutique at Paragon that was redesigned by Christopher Bailey.
