There are two reasons why I wrote this post. Firstly, this is proof the iconic YSL logo is alive and well over at Saint Laurent, despite the name change and everyone assuming the worst. Secondly, the bag, named Cassandre, is also the pseudonym of Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, the man who designed the logo in 1963.
Proving that he has a heart after all, Hedi pays homage to the logo (and its designer) with the Saint Laurent Small Cassandre, a sexy, slinky suede number that measures 17 cm across by 13 cm. Crafted out of suede and lined with lush leather on the inside, the bag is also adorned with a rather large representation of the logo, along with a long (I’m-calling-it-a-disco) tassel as well as a long chain shoulder sling.
Priced at GBP1065, the one in black suede is available now via Net-A-Porter, and once I get the prices in for SGD and HKD I’ll do another update. A nod to 70s opulence and glamour, and a beautiful evening bag for partying the night away. Yves would approve.
