I love discovering new bag brands as much as I love reviewing that 294th reinterpretation of the Speedy, but I jest. Seriously though, I do love finding out about new brands, especially if they are offering up something fresh and/or different.
Today’s discovery happens to be this, the Bonastre Folder M D4 which I stumbled upon by accident over on Instagram. Based in France and designed by Fernando Bonastre, the bags and accessories are made in Spain, where he only uses ancient vegetable processes to tan his leathers. The end result is a beautiful sheen on the leather that’s also environmentally friendly, good for you, good for Mother Earth.
Measuring 25.5 cm by 19 cm, the bag’s design is simple enough, a triangular flap with an oversized tab at the end that tucks neatly into a slot that’s secured onto the clutch via rivets. Untreated (and unlined) on the inside, it has the right touch of manly oomph. In other words, it’s masculine enough without descending into a chest-thumping Neanderthal.
Priced at EUR179 (that’s around SGD290 after conversion), it’s also remarkably affordable for something this handsome. Order online or drop them an email, and I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to sort your order out. And while you’re checking them out online don’t forget to check out Bonastre’s line of bags and SLGs, which are pretty swish too.
