Lovingly referred to as the ‘car seat’ bag by yours truly (it is pretty obvious, no?), the Hermès Berline one of the newer bags you’ll find at the French luxury house. Best described as a deconstructed Kelly, you’ll discover familiar details on it like the palladium clasp closure and the leather-tabbed canvas Amazone strap, which you also sometimes see on bags like the Evelyne and the Kelly.
Not very big, the Berline is perfect as a city shoulder bag, just the right size for all your essentials on the go. And because the sling’s so short, it will sit closely to the body when shouldered, although those wanting to wear it across the body will find it almost impossible. You could remove the sling altogether and just use it as a clutch, adding to the versatility for this piece.
On the inside you’ll find the usual bells and whistles (zip pocket, flat slot) which are thoughtful touches but at the end of the day, that’s pretty much it. Which brings me to my last point. In Singapore, the Berline is priced at SGD10300, which I feel is a tad too high as far as its design and size are concerned. What do you think?
