It’s been a while since any Cabat from Bottega Veneta appeared on this blog, since honestly at the end of the day it’s just a weaved leather bag (albeit a gorgeous one, of course) that comes in different colours every season. That was till I came across the Bottega Veneta Poussin Nappa Paillettes Cabat, part of the Cruise 2013 collection and featured in the ad campaign that’s shot by Collier Schorr.
As far as I can tell, this SGD20,450 leather tote has had some pretty special handwork done to it, and based on the price alone that’s a given since regular Cabat bags come in at around half the price. Attached to the intrecciato weaved body are small paillettes, tecnically circular discs usually made of metal or PVC, but in the case of this Cabat, made of carefully cut discs of nappa leather.
Assembled, they resemble little feathers, looking all light and delicate which might also explain the existence of the word poussin (a word used to refer to chickens under 28 days old with fluffy down) in the bag’s name. Or maybe not. Still, it’s one stunning creation that’s guaranteed to help you get ahead in the pecking order. No, I couldn’t resist.
