Merriam-Webster Online describes bizarre as odd, extravagant, or eccentric in style or mode, which is exactly how I’m feeling about these particular S/S13 bags and clutches. And while I’m pretty sure there will be more, these odd, extravagant and eccentric 8 will have to do for now.
Have a read, take everything with a pinch of salt and let me know how you feel about these bags.
First up we’ve got a fan clutch (or is it a purse?) from Ralph Lauren, which honestly I can’t quite figure out based on the image alone. Next is a beautiful (if impractical) laser-cut leather bowler from Bally which will come in a variety of colours. While gorgeous, the bag has holes so big most everything you put in will slip out.
Another odd piece from Alexander Wang, which is part-drawstring bag part-macrame knot lamp. There’s actually a leather base at the bottom; you’ll just have to aim when dropping personals in to prevent them from falling out through the knots. Love old-world perfume bottles? Then you’ll love Charlotte Olympia‘s blue hued perspex clutch that’s both eccentric and fun.
Vintage telephone clutch from Judith Leiber. Why doesn’t someone make a crystal-encrusted iPhone clutch instead? Perfume bottles, vintage telephones, how about a bag in the shape of a hat box from Jason Wu? It will come with its own shoulder sling and a stiff angled top handle.
Another perfume bottle inspired evening bag, this time from Lanvin and modelled after its classic scent Arpège. Last but not least, everyone’s favourite clutch from Chanel that should come in other colours like Red, Navy and White next season. ‘Nuff said.
