The latest bag to join the Mulberry family of bags is the Maisie, which employs heat-moulding technology to achieve what you see on the front, a trompe l’oeil of the now iconic postman’s lock, buckles, flap et al. And while this isn’t exactly revolutionary, it is always an amazing tactile experience running your fingers over the embossed bumps, which sometimes gives me goosebumps.
Available in 3 different styles including the Mulberry Maisie Shoulder (shown above), the other two generally falls under the category a handbag (Maisie Clipper) and a duffle (Oversized Maisie Clipper). All 3 come in Flame Silky Snake Print, the bright orange that’s a tad under neon, yet bright enough to give you that extra spring in your step, besides classics in Black and Oak. Then there’s Petrol, a darkish blueish-grey that definitely smoulders.
Priced from GBP1100 and up, they are all now available via Mulberry online, where they do ship internationally.
And one more thing before I go, it’s not true that that sides of the Maisie Clipper (and Oversized Maisie Clipper) are deliberately pointed. They can be folded in, which makes them more boxy, especially when they are filled. Which is a much better look as opposed to the flapping stingray-type wings you see now in the online catalogue.
I would know. I’ve got the Oversized Maisie Clipper in Oak myself.
