You can tell a lot about a brand just by looking at the bags they create, and after staring at the Moynat Cabotin for the longest time via Moynat’s online site, I have deduced the following. For starters, it’s obvious that French luxury house Moynat (that was founded in 1849) only makes beautiful bags, but more importantly, elegant, everyday pieces that use only the finest leathers.
Their bags are also simple, without all those distracting bells and whistles, which in turn forces you to see their creations for what they are, wonderfully structured and uncomplicated, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and artistry.
Take the Cabotin, for example, which in my opinion is as versatile as it is stunning. Carry it hand-held or use the accompanying shoulder sling, this bag will bring you from the tearoom to the boardroom with ease. What I’m loving even more about it is how unfettered it is, the silver-tone hardware (could it be palladium-plated?) the perfect foil against the rich, luxe leather.
Priced at EUR2550, the Cabotin is also available in Black, Mahogany and Taupe, besides the one in Amaranth that’s shown above. And because Moynat only has a single store in the world that’s located in Paris (at 348 Rue Saint Honoré, to be exact), it certainly makes the Cabotin (and their other bags) even more desirable.
No guesses then on where I’ll be spending a lot of time at come September when I’m in Paris.

May I ask if it’s heavy or not?
As compared to? If you are just asking me in comparison to all the other leather bags of similar size that I’ve tried out, no this isn’t.
Now that’s a beauty. Pity I have to go all the way to Paris to see it IRL.
I’ll be in Paris in September also! As I’m sure you know the Rue St Honore is a window shopping/splurging Mecca!! Have a great time and look forward to your daily posts as always! I’ll be in LV trying to convince my husband that I can’t love without the Multicolore Sharleen. Wish me luck!
love the clean and simple design… reminds me of the old lunch box…
Now that you say it, it does! Or maybe a tool box.
