Nothing gets my heart racing more than a beautifully structured bag in a gorgeous bright colour, and with that said, may I present the Mark Cross Scottie. Established in 1845 in Boston, USA, Mark Cross was then a maker of saddlers and harnesses, then eventually closed in 1997. Revived in 2010, the company now offers a small selection of bags including the Scottie, tiny trunk handbags, hobos and totes.
Priced at USD1950, the made-in-Italy bag measures 29 cm across by 20 cm high, a good size as far as handbags are concerned. What’s really beautiful about it are the old-school flourishes on it, including the enveloped-shaped flap that ends with a metal clasp, the hanging clochette which I’m assuming holds the key to the clasp and its general old-world shape. It also comes with its own detachable shoulder sling, which is always a good thing as far as my checklist is concerned.
The only downside, it’s not available in Singapore (or the region), and from the looks of it, your best bet to getting it online is heading over to Barneys, or perhaps sending them an email and see if they would ship internationally.
It’s darling, isn’t it? And click here to check out the other bags they’ve got in their collection.
