If you were (like me) wondering how a terrier made it into a runway collection that was mostly focused on woodland animals (yes, I’m referring to the F/W12 Burberry Prorsum collection), I think I know why.
Digging around online, I found out via Harper’s Bazaar that Christopher Bailey had got himself a new puppy. Which could have been around the same time he was creating his F/W12 collection, because its darling face has so far made it onto a cashmere sweater (SGD2395, shown above), along with a graphic tee (SGD360), both of which are available for sale now on Buberry’s online store. While this can’t be verified (unless you have him on speed dial, of course), it would make a really adorable anecdote, don’t you think?
It also looks to be a new trend, with designers and editors putting their pets in the limelight. Karl Lagerfeld’s pet cat Choupette apparently has an upcoming Chanel bag named after her, while Grace Coddington has a collaboration with Balenciaga that features her kitty Pumpkin.
And if you’re wondering what its name is, it’s George, according to the magazine.
