Whenever a bag becomes popular, sells a gazillion pieces or reaches a certain cult status, designers will more often than not start tinkering with it and come out with versions, to give their creations a new perspective and to appeal to those who are already fans and bought the original versions. And hopefully, sell a gazillion more.
In the case of the 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli Satchel, which has done really well on her own (despite being referred to as the poor American cousin to Céline’s Nano), Phillip Lim decided that for F/W12, he will come out with a version that’s 95% two-tone PVC, save for handles and shoulder strap in leather and the silver-tone hardware, of course.
Measuring 28 cm by 18 cm, the wee lass is a minimalist study in adorability, the perfect bag for casual weekends while you’re out and about in town. Priced at USD450 (around SGD576 after conversion), you can buy it now via Shopbop.
If you prefer something more substantial, her bigger sis which measures 41 cm across can be purchased via Net-A-Porter where it goes for GBP600, which is around SGD1200.
And here’s a quick tip before I go. Given PVC’s penchant to get sticky after a while in our humid tropical weather, do remember to always wipe it down before storing it in its dust bag, and make sure you remove stray receipts from its interior to prevent colour transfers from happening.
