Going by all the online buzz that’s been generated with regards to the upcoming Louis Vuitton + Yayoi Kusama collection, it’s very clear from all the comments out there that there are two camps. Fans, and non-fans. A collaboration with Japanese artist Yayo Kusama, who is perhaps most famous for her use of dots which you’ll pretty much see lots of in the collection.
Encompassing a wide variety of merchandise from RTW to bags to shoes and accessories, I’ve heard different things from different sources. For starters, there should be 5 different colour combinations available, similar to the black dots on yellow combo you see above.
Personally I’ve only seen 3, white dots on black, white dots on red, as well as the black dots on yellow that I’ve just mentioned.
And as far as the bags are concerned, it seems that most of the icons from Louis Vuitton will be ‘Yayoi-ed’, from the Alma to the Lockit to the Papillon, and the one I’m most looking forward to checking out in person, the Keepall.
No word yet on when Singapore will begin selling her allotment, though WWD has reported that the first drop will be launched in early July at 461 Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide, with a second wave of products to be released in October.
Check out the link for more images, and tell me, what do you think? Covetable collector’s pieces? Or just simply bags and shoes with dots and more dots?
