Two years ago, Louis Vuitton launched the 496-page hardcover titled 100 Legendary Trunks, which I promptly purchased and lugged home. Sadly, I haven’t flipped through it more than 5 times since then. The way I see it, it looks way better sitting alongside the other hardcover tomes from Louis Vuitton I’ve got on the shelf, and God forbid I actually read it and accidentally crease the pages.
Which brings us to the Louis Vuitton 100 Legendary Trunks iPad App, which was just launched a couple of days ago. Adapted from the hardcover, the app has pretty much the same content as the book, including images (and their stories) of 100 trunks, 1000 illustrations and even an ad catalogue from 1892, featuring advertisements from that era.
Having just downloaded it myself (it costs USD18.99 by the way, and you can download it from the App Store), there are also videos and sound clips in the app, which does make the overall experience of reading it on the iPad way more enjoyable.
And now I’m hoping Louis Vuitton will start converting more of their tomes into apps as well, because besides being way more affordable, it also means I can read it anywhere so long as my iPad is with me.
