At first glance I honestly thought this was some sort of cooler, and once you pop the lid open, you’d probably find a couple of cans of beer contained within. It certainly looks that way, even though it’s not. It, in fact, is the new Bang & Olufsen Beolit 12, a compact audio system that’s also portable.
The Beolit 12 allows you to play music wirelessly via your iPad, iPhone or iPod when connected to your network. And because it is also designed to be portable, it comes with built-in power supply and a rechargeable battery, allowing you to play music and charge your connected device for up to 8 hours.
I’m no audiophile, but having listened to music via my MacBook and iPad for years, the Beolit 12 is definitely top-notch and a refreshing change as far as I’m concerned. Most importantly, I love the way it looks, the solid aluminium loudspeaker grille looking stylish and seamless, coupled with the handsome full-grain leather strap that you can use to carry the unit around.
I just need to decide if I should part with SGD1200 for it. Or just stick to my Macbook/iPad combo. What do you think?

Love the BL12. I found the sound awesome. Even better than my Beosound 8. B&o will soon have another iPhone compatible airplay speaker very soon.
I have the Bose Soundlink too and I must say its good. But this is definitely a statement piece, next to the flat screen in the living room. Very, very tempting BB!
I got the Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker and the sound is beautiful. You should sound it out.
Jawbone Jambox, Arcam rCube or Bose Soundlink. The Beolit is not worth it, in both audiophile/style sense.
Thanks for your input Duncan!
