It’s not often (actually not ever) in my line of work that I get to carry a briefcase around, since I don’t particularly need to lug documents or a laptop from point A to point B in my normal day-to-day work life.
Still, that’s not going to stop me from admiring briefcases, since I do think they make a smart accessory to any man’s wardrobe, especially those working in stiff corporate environments who can’t get away with just a canvas backpack or a nylon messenger.
And just because it has to be a briefcase doesn’t mean it has be all black and boring. Take the Valextra Premier Cross-Grained Leather Briefcase for example, which you’ll find on Mr Porter for GBP2110. Measuring 39 cm across, it’s a sickly sleek beast, all decked out in hard-wearing cross-grained leather that’s finished off with stitches using green thread that’s a nice yet unusual contrast.
Topped off with a simple handle and soft, rounded curves, you’ll find an uncluttered main compartment on the inside, with leather slots on one side for paperwork and other bits. Smart and handsome, it won’t be out of place in the boardroom, be it in the year 2012 or 2212.

Stunning piece of workmanship if you ask me.
such a stud of a bag.
This colour looks good and is easier day-to-day, but I much preferred it in white and was quite tempted to risk bankruptcy for a piece when Mr Porter had their sale earlier this year…
Incidentally, £2,110 is the price with VAT (which doesn’t apply to us). Our price is £1,930.46—that is, before GST (which does apply to us).
Was in Milan just 2 weeks ago and my dad bought the red version of this briefcase. Fantastic leather and so well made and the lock and key are patented as well.
OMG! I know this is gonna be random but have you seen the new Guess Micro Mania Watch? It’s really beautiful and you should feature it on your blog.
I do like it!!!

I like the finish and shape of it… Major retro! (FB)
As nice and unusually good (the contrast stitching) it is, the thing about it being really bright is that you have to actually match your suit, tie etc. with the color. I think that’d be too much of a pain in the ass, pardon my french.
That’s quite true though in this day and age I don’t think we have to take the whole matchy-matchy outfit thing too seriously.
