Here’s a quick update for those of you lusting after the new Chanel Boy, which has been on my radar since my first post about it back in May 2011. If you regard the classics (like the 2.55 or the Classic Flap) from Chanel as being soft and feminine, then the new Boy is all about being hard and masculine without being overly butch, if you know what I mean.
I remember going back to Chanel at Rue Cambon a couple of times while I was in Paris, but whenever I arrived the bag had sold out, even though batches of it were delivered every few days. That was how popular it is. So what’s the allure, you ask? Well, I do love the fact that you can wear it 3 different ways, across the body, over the shoulder (just shorten the sling) or as a clutch by removing the sling completely, which makes it a very versatile.
For those of you in Singapore, prices start from SGD3940 for the smallest one (20 cm by 12 cm), SGD4340 for the medium one (25 cm by 14 cm), and finally, SGD4930 for the largest one (30.5 cm by 21 cm). There are also tote bags in the collection (that come with a pair of leather handles with the buckle on the top) and those start from SGD5470 for the one that measures 36.5 cm by 25.5 cm.
Besides the ones from F/W11 shown above, do look out for the ones from Cruise 2012 as well, available in colours like Jaune and another in a black/white combo (shown above).

I love the flap one. Been on the fence whether to get it or not. Ah… And which size to get between the medium and large. Any idea on the weight?
They are not exactly lightweight (boxy leather frame, metal chain), but I don’t have the exact weight of each size. They are available in SG now, why don’t you head on down and try them out for yourself?
Hi BB, I passed by the boutique at Ngee Ann City today hoping to find the largest Boy Chanel flap. Just really frustrating to talk to SA’s who tell me that the only size it comes in is small and medium… really, these people should know their product!
i need one of these badly…
Very nice. Not my style exactly, but I like it.
Never say never? LOL!
