Romanticism circa 1930s Paris was the order of the day at Chanel’s Cruise 2012 presentation held at its Ngee Ann City store. The newly upgraded duplex that boasts a retail space of 7000 sq ft has been completely transformed for the occasion. The typically beige interior of the Chanel boutique is now blanketed with a backdrop of scintillating walls, with a lighted silhouette of Place Vendome, complete with street lamps. The ambience is just cinematic to say the least.
The intimate set-up has been specifically tailored to this flagship store to create a unique experience like no other. Perhaps, a little sneak peak, as you make your way up the stairs leading to the second floor, a slew of uber chic ingénues brandishing the latest clutches from the Cruise 2012 collection will greet you on the left, and as you venture in deeper you will be thrilled to find a corner devoted just to living your Parisian dreams (even if for just a moment).
This silver screen fantasy set up complements the concept of the original showcase at Hotel du Cap in the French Riviera of Artibes which Karl Lagerfeld pays homage to the ‘billion-dollar babes’, the likes of Rita Hayworth and Aly Has, who are regulars at the resort. Expect plush loungewear coupled with real diamonds and pearls and what’s left missing is an esteemed company to complete the scene.
Well, words can only say so much. You really have to experience this new store to soak in a piece of this Parisian dream. Chanel has pushed the envelope yet again; the boutique at Ngee Ann City will be only the one in the world with this installation. You’ll have from tomorrow till 4 December 2011 to experience it for yourself in person. Worth the queue on the weekends? I most definitely think so.
