One of Mulberry’s most expensive bags for S/S11 is the Mulberry Jewelled Lily, the GBP3574 (that’s almost 7000 Singapore dollars, by the way) evening shoulder bag that’s made up of over 2500 painstakingly applied Swarovski crystals and 460 Mulberry rivets.
Here you can see the rivets being applied by hand, and because the entire application process is manual, no two bags are alike. The application happens first on an open sheath of luxurious camel suede, and besides the rivets, each craftsman has to contend with Swarovski crystals in 4 different sizes, working hard to ensure that the final result is visually appealing and well laid out.
Which ends up looking like this, a stunning (and sparkling) evening shoulder bag that measures 21 cm across. And given how Mulberry has already conquered the market with affordable everyday bags for work and play, I see this as a natural progression to offer their maturing customers something even more desirable, and pricey (besides the GBP4000 exotic ostrich Bayswater, that is).
Besides being guaranteed to shimmer the hell out of all the other socialites at your annual gala dinner, you can also wear it one of two ways, over the shoulder or across the body, just by adjusting the long shoulder strap.
Shimmering, sparkling and stunning (I would go on but I’ve run out of S-words to use). What more can you ask for? Or is it just much too much?
