My second show in Paris, and boy was it a memorable one. Besides being granted backstage access for the Fall-Winter 2011 Womens Loewe runway presentation, I also had a jolly time checking out all the action that goes on behind the scenes.
While I’ve been backstage before on some occasions, nothing beats the scale I saw last night. Crammed full of people, including models, hair and makeup artists, minders and press from around the world, it looked chaotic but in reality, nothing was further from the truth.
I stood by the side observing how models got moved from hair to makeup, minders going around ensuring their models were on schedule, all under the watchful eye of Pat McGrath who orchestrated the whole exercise.
The look Stuart Vevers wanted for his F/W11 show consisted of pulled-back hair ending in a small knot, complemented with makeup in shades of brown and chocolate. There were also 3 Asian models in the line-up, along with others like Arizona Muse and Jessica Stam.
I’ll get around to doing the full post on the runway show proper soon, but seriously, I’m loving the bags from Loewe. Pieces I love include a mini trunk, boxy handbags and a lovely sling handbag with gorgeous detailing.
Meanwhile you can enjoy the final walkthrough video I put up on Facebook, as well as more snapshots from the time I spent in the backstage area. More updates to come!
