Meet Mulberry’s latest pre-Spring 2011 offering, the Mulberry Edie collection which I covered here, and had the pleasure of checking out personally whilst in London in September. A hybrid made of up both the Bayswater and the Alexa, it is roomy, versatile and the perfect everyday bag.
And if you prefer the Alexa more than the Edie, it’s fine, because that’s the whole point in the first place. While the Alexa is more prim and proper, the Edie is the complete opposite, a bag that’s slouchier and more relaxed without a care in the world.
Available in 2 sizes, the Mulberry Large Edie measures 36 cm across, big enough for most gals, as well as guys who are petite in stature. If the one in heavy grain leather in Black (shown above) is not exactly what you’re looking for, 3 other colours/materials are also available.
Like the one in spongy patent leather in Electric Blue (shown above), which I’m not personally loving as much but I’m sure some gals out there will rock it no matter what. Then there is the heavy grain leather one in Powder Beige, and another in sparkle tweed leather in Oak.
How much you ask? For a S/S11 piece that’s inspired by The Grey Gardens and one of the house’s favourites, just GBP795 if you buy it online at Mulberry.
Like it but still think it is too big? Than check out the Mulberry Small Edie (I did say it comes in 2 sizes) which retails for GBP650. Available in the same 4 colours/materials as her larger sister, it measures 30 cm by 20 cm, the perfect size for romping around the city on weekends. As seen on model Edie Campbell (shown above), the Small Edie is in a word, adorable.
