A mish-mesh of the 50s, 60s and 70s best describes the Cruise 2011 Womens Louis Vuitton collection, in a style that’s nostalgic and yet modern at the same time. Drawing influences from Miami’s Art Deco vibe, Marc Jacobs’ magical touch seems to be working again. Either that, or I’m just happy to be seeing so many florals and bright pastel colours.
Without fail, every collection comes with a range of new bags, and in the case of the Cruise 2011 line-up, meet the Louis Vuitton Monogram Sabina collection. Made from weaved raffia jacquard, it comes in 3 different styles, including the tote (two sizes, GM and PM), a shoulder bag and a smaller accessories pochette.
And since I love all things canvas and jute, these are certainly interesting though honestly it may not be to everyone’s taste. Still, these will sell, especially to hardcore fans who just need to possess every single bag in Louis Vuitton’s repertoire.
Another new bag (or in this case, new colour) I’m excited about is this deep purplish-blue that will be part of Monogram Vernis‘ collection for the new year. I’m not sure of the colour’s official name as yet, but isn’t the shade just stunning on the Alma? Two other new colours are also expected to be released, including a creamy pearlescent white and a dark mocha brown.
And to round up the collection, some of my favourite pieces, including the floral heels, sunglasses with pearl chain (granny chic?), bandeaus in the prettiest shades and jewellery that resemble striped rock candy. Delish. More updates to come…
