Tiffany & Co. will be launching the new Tiffany Leather collection for F/W10, designed in collaboration with Richard Lambertson and John Truex. And if you’re wondering why the names sound so familiar, that’s because they formerly owned leather goods company Lambertson Truex that was bought over by Tiffany & Co. in 2009 after the company went bankrupt.
And while the pieces in the collection aren’t spectacularly groundbreaking, that’s because they are supposed to ‘capture the spirit of American sportswear and its exuberant approach to life in town, in the country and from coast to coast’. In other words, safe, simple and maybe even a tad boring.
Take the Tiffany Morgan Clutch (shown above) for example. Priced at USD995 each, the shape is at best pedestrian, though I must admit the one in Tiffany Blue is quite stunning and worth a closer look.
Moving along we’ve got these bejewelled satin babies, the Tiffany Galaxy Clutch that comes with its own removable chain sling. Priced at USD1295 each, it does seem a tad pricey for something so simple.
If you take anything quilted from Chanel and remove the logo you’ll get the Tiffany Brady (left) and Tiffany Sadie (right). Looks aside though, they are still priced lower than your usual Chanel offerings and come in at USD1595 and USD795 respectively.
Last but not least, something for the men as well. Introducing the Tiffany Blake, a simply styled tote in grain leather that comes in 2 different colours. Priced at USD995 each, I do like the Tiffany Blue detail on the shoulder strap but that’s about it.
But when all is said and done, it is still too early to tell if they will turn out to be duds, or amaze the consumer with its use of quality materials, well-constructed craftsmanship and interesting interior details, which one can’t tell based on these images alone. In other words, expect more updates very, very soon.
