A collection that celebrates the blue-collared working-class brigade, the Spring-Summer 2011 Mens Prada show saw varied shades of blue sent down the runway. According to Style, ‘There were blues other than denim blues that evoked other uniforms: postmen and sailors (lots of boatnecks). Potent hits of colour, meanwhile, were intended to suggest uniforms from other countries, the cross-cultural crush being a Prada signature‘.
What really piqued my interest, however, were these Prada totes in crushed leather (or is it nylon) that came down the runway with dual or single initial embellishments, which also probably means you’ll be given an option to customise your very own with your own initials. Interesting yes, but are they my must-have bags from S/S11? I don’t think so. Not until I see them in person anyway.
What I am definitely eyeing are these gorgeous shoes with superthick soles. Different types of soles (wing-tips, espadrilles, trainers) are sandwiched together to form a dressy yet casual shoe that’s now definitely on my wish list for S/S11. Especially the one with the burgundy/emerald green combo on the left.
