First off, that’s 15-year-old Lindsey Wixson fronting the Spring-Summer 2010 Womens Miu Miu ad campaign, no mean feat considering the fact that she is just, well, 15. Not only does she not look her age, she has legs that seem to go on forever.
Still, it’s a little disturbing from the standpoint that only pre-pubescent teenagers who have yet to grow a chest or hips are deemed suitable to sell clothes to women twice their age. Real women who unfortunately will never have bodies like hers in a million years, simply because they all experience puberty. Childbirth does not help either.
I have nothing against age, after all if Tavi can be 13 and be seated in the front row of Dior, why can’t a 15 year old front a major campaign? I just don’t like the underlying connotation that stick-thin teenagers make the best clothes hangers.
And now that I’m done ranting, did anyone notice the PS1/Alexa/Faithful hybrid in the first image? I’ll definitely be keeping tabs on that… and click here to check out the rest of the campaign images.
