Walking past the Céline boutique at Ngee Ann City yesterday I immediately stopped dead in my tracks as I eyed its window display. Then I looked up and saw a different Céline, one that was free of clutter and monogrammed bags. In its place was a cleaner, more spacious layout with rows upon rows of bags, sparsely placed on bare shelves.
And for the first time in a long time I walked in.
Phoebe Philo’s first collection for Céline was indeed a breath of fresh air, new bag collections have been introduced that are simpler, more refined with an emphasis on materials used. It was clear that Ms Philo was given carte blanche; I did not even see a single Boogie, one of Celine’s stalwart icons before she came on board.
Everything I picked up I asked the SA if there was a bigger size, I could see myself using at least half of the bags from the Spring-Summer 2010 Womens Céline collection if only they came in larger sizes. I’m definitely going to devote more time (and posts) to Céline and slowly cultivate this new love. Stay tuned…
