From where I was sitting (oh yes, I was there in the flesh if you have been following my recent exploits), everything that came off the runway during the Spring-Summer 2010 Womens Burberry Prorsum either looked very, very small, or very, very large.
Those that were very, very small looked every bit precious, delicious and intricate; as if on purpose. No detail was spared, from twisted checks pleated into clutches, to exotic ‘disco’ bags lined with piped detailing. And if you needed to be really formal or simple, there was also a regal box clutch on show, along with a rounded clutch that looked very familiar.
The collection also screamed youthful exuberance, reinforced by the multitude of ‘young ones’ in the front row dressed in the same outfits shown on the runway, including Emma Watson, Freida Pinto and Mary-Kate Olsen. Incidentally, the theme of youth also seem to match the fact that London Fashion Week also turned 25 this year. Coincidence? I think not. It is just Mr Bailey’s way of keeping his collection relevant and true to circumstance, and the reason why he is still one of fashion’s brightest lights.
