Bagaholicboy Muses #91 – Gucci In The 50s

I was doing some research on Gucci’s famed Jackie (named after Jacqueline Onassis), when I came across this image of their Florentine workshop in the 1950s. Italian men with slicked hair in shirts and ties working hard at their craft. Seeing them hard at work (I don’t even care if it was posed) brings one back to an era when luxury goods were painstakingly produced piece by part, one at a time.

It also probably explains why vintage goods still look as good as the day they were made (provided they were well cared for as well of course). Now if only one can say the same thing about those that are often mass produced nowadays. No, don’t mind me, I’m just musing…
