Q: Hi Bagaholicboy, may I ask if you know if Louis Vuitton has jewellery boxes? Or any other brands that you could recommend? Sorry to throw all sorts of questions to you, but I really prefer to hear what you have to say on this.
A: Dear Janice, no problem at all. I get off-topic questions all the time and if I can help I will. So back to your query at hand. Any fashion house worth its weight in salt will have a selection of jewellery boxes/cases. I know Bottega Veneta and Hermès has them, and if I recall correctly, Chanel and Bvlgari too. Louis Vuitton has at least 3 different types (though there could be more), but I thought these 3 would be varied enough for you to take a look at.
First up, the mother of all jewellery cases, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Jewellery Case, which is more like a mini-trunk of sorts. It comes with its own leather handle, s-lock (with keys) and trunk latches. On the inside it is lined with velvet and has 13 differently-sized compartments for all manner of jewellery. How much? A whopping SGD10,800 of course.
A more affordable alternative is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Monte Carlo Jewellery Box. Retailing for SGD1380, it’s also slightly smaller than the former. But if Monogram Canvas ain’t your thing, there is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Jewel Case (which is also a recent release). Available in either Amarante or Pomme d’Amour, I personally think it’s the cutest (and smallest) of the lot and comes in at just SGD1290.
What you get ultimately depends on your needs really, but a good/solid jewellery box is always worth investing in especially if its role is to protect family heirlooms or precious fine jewellery.

And other bits…
1. Vionita, I would hardly think a leather bag that’s roomy and large would be appropriate for formal events as well. A more realistic piece would be the Speedy30, but in Epi which is leather and not Monogram Canvas or Mini Lin which are coated canvas and fabric respectively.
2. Sally, congrats on your new Thomas Sabo bracelet/charms. Yes they do offer quick polishes free of charge as well, look for Tricia at Raffles City Shopping Centre, she’s very helpful.
3. Nathan, I did a quick check for you, Neiman Marcus does ship internationally, though you have to click on the ‘Assistance’ link and order direct via chat with the store SA.
4. Mei Ling, all SAs at Louis Vuitton are supposed to provide unparalleled service, but if you want my personal opinion, you can look for Serene/Joyce at Raffles Hotel Arcade, Sally/Relen at Hilton Shopping Gallery and Wai Suet/Serene at DFS Scottswalk Galleria. And no, I do not shop at Ngee Ann City, much too mad for me…
