Bagaholicboy Muses #25 – The Hunt For Hermès

I love getting emails from readers, especially those that tell a story, of quests, of love and of success. Here is one that I read over and over again.

Hey Alvin,

Just want to thank you again for your wonderful blog as it serves as an excellent resource! Sometimes when I read the papers or other magazines and see products that I’ve already seen before on your site, I’ll just give the smirk of ‘Oh, I already knew that…’. I do suspect fashion writers use you as a resource.

Anyway, I ran out of ideas of what to buy for my partner this X’mas and so I consulted your blog again. I browsed through your archives and revisited the post on Hermès Bracelet In Silver And Evercalf. I thought that would make an excellent gift that will stand the test of time and so I called Hermès at Liat Towers yesterday to check on the stock. To my dismay, the SA informed me that they have no stock and had no idea when new stocks will arrive again. Called their other boutique at Takashimaya Department Store and was given the same reply. The SA from Liat Towers even declared that there’s no more stock in Singapore and so I almost gave up on calling Hermès at DFS Scottswalk Galleria.

But of course I knew I had to try. Called DFS Scottswalk Galleria and was so exhilarated that they still have the last piece! I knew good things won’t wait, and so I immediately drove down and bought it. Somehow DFS Scottswalks Galleria has so much more selections like you always mentioned as I browsed through the other boutiques too. The service at DFS Scottswalk Galleria is also much better than those in Liat Towers and Takashimaya Department Store too.

Also any spending of SGD400 and above using Mastercard entitles one a SGD40 gift voucher from DFS! It may not be much, but I see it as a tax refund!

I’m just so relieved that I didn’t wait anymore and finally secured the gift for my partner. It feels even more special now to know that the last piece in Singapore is now in my hands. Meanwhile, keep up the good work and thank you for inspiring luxury into our daily existence! Merry X’mas!

Cheers,
Ron Tan
