I am not too thrilled with the offerings from the Fall-Winter 2008 Womens Gucci collection. Not only does it look very similar to what they had shown for the men’s collection (which I love), everything else just seems to be in a horrid mess.
First you start off with too many studs, hardware, even tassels everywhere. You are then assaulted by hideous tie-dye prints and more flaccid silk floral patterns that culminate in sensory overload. Frida Giannini obviously tried too hard and ended up with a huge mish-mash of looks that don’t add up (I don’t get the whole old-world romance of Russian gypsies for inspiration drivel). Critics may love it, but not me.
