My jaw dropped, suffered a minor seizure and I took a good 10 minutes to compose myself. Presenting the Chanel Exotic Alligator Classic Flap, the Marina Bay Sands exclusive that will be launched when the store finally opens this weekend. Along with the nail polishes, this gorgeous Classic Flap will be sold this Sunday and is priced at SGD120 short of SGD50,000.

In other words, SGD49,880.

Quantities of each colour (3 in all available for the ones in exotic alligator) are limited to single digits, which makes this truly desirable. If I had the spare change, I’ll definitely get one, put it on a pedestal and stare at it all day long. Does anyone else out there feel the same?

But fret not, here’s the really good news. You can now pick up the entire set of lovely nail polishes 5 days before the rest of the world does on 5 September 2010 when Chanel opens her doors this Sunday at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Bagaholicboy Muses #214 – Happy Together http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-muses-214-happy-together/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-muses-214-happy-together/#comments Thu, 02 Sep 2010 03:00:28 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9137 There are two reasons I am doing this post today. Firstly, I secretly mourned when the iPhone4 was launched knowing it meant the end of my Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas iPhone Case. The old case would not fit the new phone, and it was only a matter of time before they (the cases) became obsolete. Secondly, I’d always been a Nokia user since my very first (or was it second) 8250. Even now I have 2 phone lines, one for my iPhone3G and the other for my E71.

When the new Nokia E5 was launched I jumped for joy. This would be a great replacement for my E71, and having received my review set yesterday, I realised it fitted my existing Monogram Canvas case perfectly. Not tight, but snug with a little bit of the phone sticking out.

So folks, you heard read it here first. They do fit, and yes, they are rather handsome together. Now excuse me while I head over to eBay to hunt more cases down in Damier Graphite and Monogramouflage. And in case anyone is wondering, the new iPhone4 does not fit into existing iPhone cases from Louis Vuitton.

Bagaholicboy News #165 – Gucci Opens At Marina Bay Sands With Store Exclusive! http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-news-165-gucci-opens-at-marina-bay-sands-with-store-exclusive/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-news-165-gucci-opens-at-marina-bay-sands-with-store-exclusive/#comments Wed, 01 Sep 2010 06:44:49 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9105

Gucci opens her doors today at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, a 5500 sq ft store that’s also Gucci’s third in Singapore after Paragon and Takashimaya Departmental Store. Dedicated to accessories for both men and women, a limited edition bag has also been launched. The Gucci 1973 Small Shoulder Bag will come in 5 different colours and each will bear a FW 2010 Singapore Exclusive plate on the inside of the bag.

Priced at SGD1210 each, the five colours are (from top to bottom) Fuschia Pink, Cerese Orange, Bacca Red, Mustard Yellow and China Blue.

Personally, I’m torn between the sling bags in red and the blue as the collection’s most desirable. What’s your pick?

Bagaholicboy Reminisces #19 – Best Of August 2010 http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-reminisces-19-best-of-august-2010/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/09/bagaholicboy-reminisces-19-best-of-august-2010/#comments Tue, 31 Aug 2010 17:44:03 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9089 I don’t know how we ended up here, but it seems August 2010 went by in a flash and we’re now staring in the face of September. The biggest month of the year that turns the wheels of fashion turning once again, with fashion media descending on New York, London, Milan and Paris for next season’s offerings. It is also the month when F/W10 merchandise starts turning up in full force in boutiques across the world, tempting all with their own lineup of desirables.

Closer to home, it is also the month when designer boutiques start opening their doors one after another at Marina Bay Sands, followed by big opening parties with regional celebrities flying in in attendance. In other words, I’ll be working round the clock in September, but till the madness begins, sit back, relax and see what you may have missed on Bagaholicboy in August.

01. Single biggest event all month has got be the one which Alexa Chung specially flew in for, where hordes of guests and media alike descended and partied by the beach. Thank you Mulberry, it was a blast.

02. This is also the month I kicked off Bagaholicboy Likes, my response to how everything is ‘liked’ these days online due solely to the reach of Facebook. In other words, I’m sharing with you what I’m liking at the moment.

03. More F/W10 ad campaigns from the likes of Chloé, Emporio Armani, LongchampMiu Miu, and Proenza Schouler.

04. The single most popular post in the month of August? The one I did on the revised prices of the Chanel Classic Flap in Singapore which has been viewed over 6300 times since it was first published.

05. Gorgeous bags not to be missed for F/W10 include the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Opera, the Chloé Marcie, the Dior 3D, the Givenchy Antigona, the Loewe Mini Calle, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Sophie, and the Mulberry Neely. And I promise, not a single monogram in sight.

06. And for the boys, take your pick from the Loewe Mens Heritage collection, or something really pricey from F/W10 Louis Vuitton. Beyond bags, check out my picks from F/W10 Dior Homme. In a word? Lush.

07. You can now personalise your very own Neverfull. I’ve got 2 words for you. Mon Monogram.

08. The weird and the wonderful? Check out Comme des Garçons Manga collection, Heidi Klum’s Longchamp tote, the luscious Wendy Nichol Black Rider Clutch, and of course, Oscar’s very own miu Miu bag.

09. Got a MacBook, iPad or iPhone4 to pamper? Check out the Alexander McQueen Skull Print Laptop Case, the Cote et Ciel iPhone Pouch, and an iPad app courtesy of Tod’s.

10. And because my blog does not just revolve around bags alone anymore (there are life’s other luxuries to consider), here are some of my favourites from August, which include the Price’s dVb Charity Candle, the Adrian Tassle Loafer from Dr. Martens, and the Miss Marc Henry.

And before I sign off, tell me. Which post in August was the one you liked the most?

Bagaholicboy Likes #2 – The New American Guard http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/bagaholicboy-likes-2-the-new-american-guard/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/bagaholicboy-likes-2-the-new-american-guard/#comments Tue, 31 Aug 2010 14:10:40 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9067 While everyone knows Coach, Kate Spade and Marc by Marc Jacobs for being all-American household brands with successful bag lines, not many are aware that there are new kids on the block worth a second look. And in my books, these include the likes of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, whose works often border on edgy and the avant-garde.

Take label 3.1 Phillip Lim (shown above) for example. Launched in 2005, the brand has gone from strength to strength with bags and accessories playing a more important role.

I also like the fact that the men are not forgotten. 3.1 Phillip Lim also has lines for men which includes bags and shoes. Club21 will be opening a 3.1 Phillip Lim boutique within Hilton Shopping Gallery come September 2010, and we’ll see then if they will be carrying all the different lines. Or check out Net-A-Porter which also has a small selection of bags.

Another designer worth a closer look is Alexander Wang, whose claim to fame (in the bag department anyway) is the Rocco, which first came out as a small duffle laden with metal studs on the bottom. For his F/W10 collection he had clutches with filigree detail etched onto leather as well as a gorgeous amber number.

But my favourite F/W10 pick has got to be the Alexander Wang Tai Dopp Kit Bag, a little handbag that’s part deconstructed briefcase, part trunk and all sass. Retailing for USD795 on Shopbop, I adore its shape and how unusual (yet strangely familiar) it looks. In Singapore, check out On Pedder which stocks a small selection from season to season.

And last but not least, Proenza Schouler whose name is forever tied to the PS1. Nothing wrong with that really, but there are other bags from the talented boys worth checking out. Like the F/W10 Proenza Schouler Paper-Effect Leather Bag (delicious, isn’t it?) and the yet un-named quilted leather shoulder bag (shown above) that’s just totally chic.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Sophie http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/marc-by-marc-jacobs-sophie/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/marc-by-marc-jacobs-sophie/#comments Mon, 30 Aug 2010 14:51:25 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9061 Walking past Marc by Marc Jacobs today at Ngee Ann City I spotted this sitting in the window display: the Marc by Marc Jacobs Sophie (SGD890). Looking like MJ’s answer to the PS1 and the Alexa, I am glad the similarities ended at first glance. Staring at it for a good five minutes, I noticed the subtle differences.

Firstly, it is rounded around the bottom, a nice curve that gives it a really cute butt profile. The top handle is also adjustable, meaning you can either make it short to hand carry it, or longer to tote it over the shoulder. What I like most is the long adjustable tri-coloured strap, a nice touch to an already interesting bag.

Measuring almost 32 cm across, it’s a satchel that’s worth a second look for F/W10. Check it out in Black and other colours at either Mandarin Gallery (the flagship) or Ngee Ann City.

Bagaholicboy Muses #213 – If Oscar The Grouch Had A Bag… http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/bagaholicboy-muses-213-if-oscar-the-grouch-had-a-bag/ http://bagaholicboy.com/2010/08/bagaholicboy-muses-213-if-oscar-the-grouch-had-a-bag/#comments Sat, 28 Aug 2010 16:11:05 +0000 Bagaholicboy http://bagaholicboy.com/?p=9050 Growing up, I watched Sesame Street tirelessly. Oscar the Grouch (along with Big Bird) were two of my favourite characters.

So when I chanced upon this F/W10 sling bag from Miu Miu, I thought of Oscar almost immediately. And in some perverse, alternate universe sort of way, I actually think it’s cute. Weird, but cute.
