Which reminds me of Carey Mulligan’s Prada dress (the one she wore to Cannes) which also had a scenery print on it, and one of Miuccia Prada’s recurring themes this season. Made of some plastic/nylon blend and topped off with canvas handles (and shoulder strap), it looks lightweight and easy to carry off, one that’s perfect for the onset of summer.

First the good news. Céline’s sale will officially start this Saturday (12 June 2010), with discounts starting at 30% which is standard modus operandi for luxury brands in Singapore. The private VIP sale however, starts tomorrow and by chance I already managed to find out what will be going on sale.

Now for the bad news. The one bag that everyone’s waiting for; the Céline Classic Box Bag (shown above) will not be on sale. Considered to be part of their ongoing collection that will come out in new variations every season, it is a classic-in-the-making and therefore off limits. A hit with the fashion elite, the calfskin handbag is a study of minimalism and functionality all at once, and comes in 2 different sizes.

The leather cabas which comes in brilliant hues will also not be going on sale, much to my disappointment. And yes, even those pieces from the same collection as my Céline Flat Handbag are not included.

And now that I’m trying to recall what will be on sale, I honestly can’t remember. Which only means one thing. Time to head on down again tomorrow and update it on Twitter as and when I get the information. And if you’re a big Céline fan yourself, don’t forget to stay tuned.

Another piece in the collection that’s due to be launched today is the Cosmic Blossom Towel. Retailing for SGD1290 (measures 150 cm by 90 cm, M72595), I can’t help but wonder at its asking price.

Yes it’s Louis Vuitton, but it is still a towel at the end of the day.

2 other pieces to be launched today include the bandeau/bandana (55 cm by 55 cm, M725362) and the scarf (70 cm by 70 cm, M72543) which retail for SGD270 and SGD480 respectively. Now wish me luck; I need to go hunt down the pareo.

And even though they are not commonplace in Singapore I have seen ladies in wellies whenever there’s a morning downpour. Available in 4 different colour trims including Red (shown above), Purple, Yellow and Green they retail for SGD380 a pair. Other items in the collection include a tote bag in 2 sizes (SGD1125 and SGD975), wallets (SGD725 and SGD340 depending on the size) and a coin purse for SGD275.

A long-time favourite of mine, a large knitted cotton losange that should retail for around SGD1000 a pop. I could be wrong about the price, but I remembered how sensuous it felt on my skin till I saw the price tag and backed off. It’s definitely not going to be a never; instead I’ve decided to wait and turn it into a special treat for myself when the appropriate time arrives.

And more unusual are these scarf-ties in ‘vintage’ silk (SGD370) which I’ve never seen before. Are they scarves, or are they ties? Are they some new-fangled hybrids that I missed along the way? Personally I think they are lovely but I would really like to know how they’re worn.

Will someone out there kindly enlighten me?

For those not in the know, the Miu Miu Coffer also comes in the form a bag charm, the most darling reinterpretation of an iconic bag in miniature. If memory serves me correctly, these go for SGD420 a pop in Singapore, and the flap actually opens up with enough space for a whole stick of lip gloss. Thing is, they could be sold out by now as they’re also pretty hot collectors’ items.

From the runway comes these satin clutch wallets that are divinely smooth and soft to the touch. Retailing for SGD690 a pop, the only downside is that fact they’re extremely flat, with enough space for the bare minimum. Still there are days when it’s never about functionality, but how pretty it is. Designs include the one with daisies (not exactly hot favourite of mine), and the one with pink swallows (shown below).

My personal favourite? The one with blue pussies.

In fact, I love pussies so much (yes, I’ve got a cat myself at home) that I almost picked up the cat brooch last month when I spotted it at Miu Miu Paragon. Suffice to say, it is probably sold out by now but that’s not going to stop me from dropping by again this weekend. One can hope, can’t he?

Part of the Burberry Brit collection, April Showers is a new capsule collection that includes items that come with brightly-coloured edging with iconic checks for both men and women. And yes, the full collection is now available at ION Orchard for viewing and purchase.

Old Hollywood glamour and Inspector Gadget came to mind when I was going through the Spring-Summer 2010 Womens Dior press kit, a veritable ensemble of old-world grace and beauty which is much forgotten these days.

And the theme has been brought over to the accessories rather well too, from the straw hat to the wispy rose bush scarves and embedded lace bangles.

But the star of S/S10 has got to be the Dior Detective Bag in exotic black python, a gorgeous structured satchel briefcase that’s both curvy and sensuous. And if you look closely enough, you’ll see a hanging gun holster charm which just brings me back to the whole Inspector Gadget comparison I made earlier. Sadly though, the one in this size is not available, though the smaller one (SGD11,000) that’s perfect an evening night out is…

Well, it is actually the Kate Spade Picnic Bike Basket (USD325), a hand-woven basket that can be attached to the front of your bicycle. Pack a picnic, hop on your bicycle and head on down to the Botanic Gardens for a lazy afternoon on the grass beside the lake, munching on your home-made cucumber sandwiches and reading a trashy but oh-so-good chick lit novel.

And this is perhaps why I’m enjoying the Spring-Summer 2010 Mens Dior Homme collection so much. And while there are deep v-necked vests and flowing cardigans in the lineup this season (which I choose to block out mentally), I do like the ensemble shown above.

No way in hell I’ll wear a sheer shirt, but I do love the pants.

To accompany my outfit of choice, I wouldn’t mind these lovely accessories and footwear either. Perhaps it is indeed time to head on down to Dior at ION Orchard and give the collection a proper once-over. And if you’re wondering why I did not feature any bags from the S/S10 collection here, let’s just say they didn’t make the cut for me.
