Looking almost like the aforementioned Alexa, the only big difference as far as the exterior is concerned is the addition of a lot more hardware in the form of the plaque in front, along with all those embellishments on both sides of the bag.

Another big change is the addition of the 3rd strap that you can see in the middle of the bag, and if it is functional, it simply means you can now leave the other straps unbuckled while you’re out and about. Which is a good thing since those extra straps can be a hassle when you’re trying to retrieve something while on the go.

Besides the regular versions, there will also be an Oversized Travel Day Bag, in a variety of colours and finishes. And now we wait, to find out when they will be released for sale, and how much.

If you’re looking for an Alexa (be it the Mini, the regular or the Oversized), you’re in luck as well, with prices ranging from GBP385 to GBP1072 after discount. Be quick though, these usually go really fast. Nice selection of Bayswater bags as well, so for those who have been saving up for this iconic classic, here is your chance.

Measuring 24 cm by 16.5 cm, it comes with 5 (yes, 5) zip compartments. 2 in front, 2 at the back and one of top, which is great for all matter of paper paraphernalia. Yes, discount cards, name cards, vouchers, receipts, it just goes on and on. And because I prefer not to stuff my wallet till it starts resembling Moby Dick, this pouch from Mulberry would be apt.

Besides Oak, it also comes in Black (in leather), as well as a glossy pink leather one that’s great for the gals.

The only drawback? Having to pay GBP225 (almost SGD450) for it. Not really expensive, but I would rather not spend so much for something that stays hidden in my bag 70% of the time. And if anyone out there knows of something similar at a lower price, please feel free to leave a comment.

More than just a regular messenger, Mulberry Postman’s Lock Backpack is well, a backpack as well. Move the removable strap from the D-rings on both sides of the bag and work them around the trio of D-rings at the back, and hey presto, you’ve got yourself a backpack.

Measuring 40 cm by 31 cm, it’s a pretty good size for all manner of work essentials, including the 15″ laptop. Available in two different colours, the one above is all sleek and modern in gray calf leather with hardware in gunmetal. The other option is more classic, in black leather with gold-tone hardware.

The price is pretty good too, at GBP796 (around SGD1600 or so after conversion). Not bad for a bag you can carry three ways (briefcase, messenger and backpack). Handsome too, if you ask me.

Here’s a quick comparison based on the ever-popular Alexa, and how much it will cost you if you were to buy it from Mulberry online (UK), Net-A-Porter (UK), SSENSE (Canada) and Eranzi (Malaysia). The bag in question is the standard Alexa in buffalo leather, and final prices include shipping to Singapore and 7% GST.

Over at Mulberry and Net-A-Porter (based in the UK), the Alexa sells for GBP795 a pop. Shipping is little bit more over at Mulberry (GBP28 versus GBP21), so after shipping and 7% GST, they will cost you SGD1789 and SGD1773 respectively. 

On SSENSE (headquartered in Canada), the bag sells for USD1200, with shipping to Singapore at USD50. After GST, it will set you back by SGD1759. At Eranzi (based in Malaysia), the bag costs SGD1643, inclusive of free international shipping, but with GST tagged on, it will still cost you SGD1758.

It may not seem like a lot, but if you do your research religiously for all your online purchases in a year you’ll definitely save a bundle. Maybe not enough for another bag, but maybe a SLG. Don’t forget to look out for promos as well, which include free shipping, discount codes and special offers which would make a huge difference to the final price you pay.

And in case anyone is wondering, the Alexa costs SGD1960 locally, SGD202 more than the next most expensive option. Yes, it does cost more, but it is a small price to pay for someone to attend to you in person, answer your queries and provide immediate after sales service.
