From oversized flowing capes to chunky cameo jewellery, the star(s) of the ad campaign as far as this blog is concerned are the gorgeous vintage-inspired evening bags that come with beautifully-formed handles, set atop bags made of fabrics and skins in a variety of colours and prints.

The mid-century shapes are unapologetically ladylike but the bold colour blocking keeps these bags from being too precious. Without a doubt, these are made for all the modern women with a Stepford Wife hidden somewhere in them.

Shot by photographer David Sims, the campaign also celebrates the collection’s jewellery pieces, from brass chokers and earrings with multi-coloured crystals to necklaces and bracelets with pearl cabochons and jewelled clasps.

As far as I’m concerned however, the star of this campaign has got to be this pretty top handle shoulder bag. Made of goat leather with leather lining the inside as well, the Miu Miu Madras comes complete with a shoulder strap and gold-tone hardware in the form of the push-lock clasp. Measuring 28 cm by 18 cm, it retails for SGD2000 a pop.

Each more adorable than the next, they are all no bigger than the palm of your hand, in luscious materials like nappa leather and suede. Adorned with matching hardware (their bigger siblings are finished the same way); they will retail for SGD740 and up.

In recognition of the fact that Singapore is fast rising as a leading fashion capital, a limited collection of these miniatures have been flown in and will be available at Miu Miu Paragon starting today.

They won’t hold much, but they sure are cute, and will look even more stunning on my X’mas tree. I just need to decide on which one to get now, I guess. And don’t forget to check out my Facebook fan page for the other variations available.

First up, the Louis Vuitton Lockit Voyage Pulsion which should be available in Singapore in the coming month. Priced at SGD7950 for the larger version (shown above), as well as SGD4500 for the smaller, stuffed-toy looking one.

Next, the new Dior Miss Dior which most of you should be familiar with by now. This one (available in 4 variations based on size and length of chain), is made of quilted leather and adorned with all manner of finery retails from SGD4500 and up.

One of my F/W11 favourites from Bottega Veneta, the Lido in patchwork intrecciato nappa that retails for SGD7980. Pricey, yes, but isn’t she a beauty?

I could go on and on about the oversized clutches from F/W11 Miu Miu, but I shan’t. From SGD2560 and up.

From Balenciaga comes this unusual painted paisley clutch, available in different colour combinations and priced at SGD2830 each.

Held within Palais d’Iéna, it proved a fitting backdrop for the 1940s inspired pieces that flitted down the runway, Miuccia Prada’s testament to an era that was heady, the women glamourous. I left filled with imagery of beautifully embroidered dresses, glitter-dipped pumps and granny purses blown out of proportion, telling myself this was Miu Miu at its best, all grown-up with just the right nuances of elegance and beauty.

As far as the bags were concerned, it was love. Truth be told, it wasn’t created to be a crowd pleaser; instead it was the perfect blend of functionality and form, with a touch of quirkiness for good measure.

And if that wasn’t enough, I was one of the lucky few from Singapore who was invited to Miu Miu’s huge F/W11 soiree in Shanghai, which was also attended by over 800 celebrities, socialites and members of the press corp from around the region.

Held at the towering monolith that’s the Park Hyatt Shanghai, all guests were instantly transported back in time with the 5 uppermost floors converted into the most glamourous of settings, replete with cabaret performances, magical acts and live music.

It was an enthralling experience, made even more memorable by the fact that I got to see all the F/W11 runway looks all over again as the models weaved through guests dining on delicacies like lobsters and drinking copious amounts of champagne.

Ending the night on an absolute high, I was fully immersed in the vision that Miuccia Prada wanted to convey when she created the collection, bringing everyone back to an era when elegance and glamour came naturally.

Two months on, I’m proud to present exclusive images from the F/W11 Miu Miu fantasy lookbook, created in collaboration with OMA. Juxtaposing various runway looks with the architectureal magnificence that’s the Palais d’Iéna, it also marks the end of my personal voyage with this collection that has opened my eyes to the world of Miu Miu that’s beyond covers of glossy magazines and massive advertising billboards.

And it was a journey well travelled. An experience that’s more than just apparel, bags or shoes, but the sum of its total parts that makes it priceless.

Slightly different from the former, this oversized clutch features a distinctive curved asymmetric top frame clasp, topped with enlarged kiss lock orbs that are definitely a nod to granny purses of yore.

The body is generous and roomy, measuring 41 cm across by 29 cm (yes, I did say it was big). Besides being available in ruched pleated leather, I also spotted another version in wool felt on Net-A-Porter (GBP895), cool dark grey on the outside, delicious nude leather on inside. Or check  it out at Miu Miu boutiques at ION Orchard, Paragon and Marina Bay Sands, all of which carry different variations.

As an added bonus, it does come with a shoulder strap, so you can choose to carry it cover the shoulder (or across the body) if you so please. Or just tuck it under your arm and you’re good to go.

A sumptuous composition of luxurious suede and gold-tone hardware, the oversized clutch works perfectly with Miuccia Prada’s vision for F/W11: the glamourous, heady 40s, slim long-sleeved dresses with delicate embroidery, mink fur wraps and glitter-dipped shoes.

One of her most elegant collections ever, the bags are a simply a study in proportion with details kept to a minimum. No loud motifs, no dizzying graphics, just pure, understated bliss.

For those of you, however, who worry about the high maintenance of all things suede, there is a similar version in nappa leather that just popped up on Net-A-Porter. Measuring 44 cm across (I did say they were oversized to begin with), the premise of it is as simple as it gets. Take your vintage purse with the clasp frame and blow it up 50 times.

Lined with blushing pink satin on the inside, it comes with the addition of a shoulder sling which will always come in useful when you’re trying to vary your look.

Priced at GBP1050 (or around SGD2075 after conversion), it’s really not that exorbitant for such a statement piece. They should also be available at Miu Miu stores island wide; I spotted another variation in a boxy oversized shape made of suede for around SGD2200 at Miu Miu ION Orchard.

Over 800 guests (celebrities, socialites and members of the press corp from around the region) are expected at the party, which will be held over 5 floors at the hotel, completely restyled by renowned Hollywood set designer Carl Sprague. We haven’t been given all the details, but were told that we will have to mingle our way through all the designated floors tonight to enjoy the F/W11 runway presentation, jazz performances, cabaret shows, illusionist acts, as well as the Supper Club style dinner.
