It goes with almost anything, is easy to match and fuss-free as far as maintenance is concerned.

To start you on your way, here are some of my favourite things in black, which will also make great gifts for the man in your life. Especially interesting are the wool scarf from McQueen and the bear lapel pin from 3.1 Phillip which are on my own personal wish list as well.

Measuring a wee 2 cm by 2 cm across, it is supposed to look oh-so-cute hanging off your waist, though I seriously doubt it will be truly functional.

Singapore’s hot and humid tropical weather). Pants with ruffled waist lines and rope belts, shorts and swimming trunks with drawstring pulls make a lot of sense in a country where it can be scorching one minute and wet the other.

Sure beats bermudas and flip-flops (which I am also personally guilty of) anytime.

While it’s been a long while since I posted anything on iPhone cases or covers, the growing number of emails in my inbox enquiring about these items has prompted me to do a more complete post. But before we proceed, I’ve a quick confession. Even though I own the iPhone myself, I’ve yet to get myself a case or cover, simply because I haven’t found the right one yet.

And when that day comes, you’ll be the first to know.

But back to the post at hand. The most popular of all cases has got to be the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas iPhone Case 3G. Why? Because it always seems to be sold out. Priced at SGD380, it also comes in Damier Graphite for the iPhone 3G.

From Hermès we’ve got the Hermès iPhone 3G Case in Swift calfskin (SGD480), a perforated case that makes your iPhone look really nice but doesn’t do much else. Like the ones from Louis Vuitton, you have to actually remove them from the case before you can actually take calls or send an SMS which can be such a hassle. Still, it’s pretty isn’t it?

Another case that was just released last year from the Mulberry + Apple collection was this; the Mulberry Bayswater Mini Messenger. Good for iPhone, iPod Touch and the like, it’s more a miniature sling bag than anything else to carry your iPhone around. Retailing for GBP150, it wasn’t made available in Singapore, so you’ll probably have to check out their online site to see if stocks are still available.

If however you require something more ‘glammed-up’, look out for Dolce & Gabbana’s version that will be released in the later half of 2010. From their Fall-Winter 2010 Womens Dolce & Gabbana collection, this is the perfect case to use when you’re out painting the town red.

We have covered cases so far, and now it’s time to move on to covers, which are basically snap-ons that protect the back of the iPhone. From Hong Kong’s Joyce comes this lovely set of 6 iPhone covers by different designers/brands including Anna Sui, Rick Owens, Marni, Dries Van Noten, Etro and Bless.

Not available for sale to the general public, it was meant to be a either a GWP or specially given to their VIP clients. Personally, I adore the ones by Rick Owen and Marni (shown above). Guess it’s time to trawl through eBay for them then.

Other designer covers I’ve found online include this one by Kate Spade that’s retailing for just USD29.95. Made of high-quality silicone, my only grouse is that it will probably only be available to those living in the States unless you use vPOST or Citibank’s Globeshopper.

Another one that’s more suited for the boys by Paul Frank, which also retails at Apple’s US online store for USD29.95. And if you guys have more suggestions for designer iPhone cases or covers, do send them to me via email and I’ll feature them in my next post.

In the African safari there is a particular term ‘the big 5′ which refers to 5 animals that are must-sees when you’re on such a trip. They comprise of the lion, leopard, black rhino, elephant and cape buffalo. Similarly in Milan, there are also 5 which I consider must-sees, and they include (in no particular order of merit of course), Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. And while the first 4 were primarily picked because of their traditional emphasis on bags, Dolce & Gabbana was only picked due to their pure showmanship.

For the F/W10 season, Gucci is all ‘grown-up’, echoing 38-year-old Frida Giannini’s quip, ‘I’ve grown up. It’s more mature clothes for more mature women, because that’s what I am’. In this case, the bags are also all grown-up, serious, mature and luxurious. Simple, classically-styled pieces that include flat clutches, satchels and the odd sling bag in leather and exotic ostrich, embellished with a single large Gucci logo. Understated and elegant.

Over at Bottega Veneta it is all about the power lesbian; bold, intense and modern. The bags also seem to follow this ethos, functional, no-nonsense pieces that are practical with a touch of luxe. Shimmering leather, exotic skins and the trademark intrecciato leather round up the selection that should frankly appeal to women of all orientations.

Fendi, Fendi, Fendi. While the clothes are a mish-mash of minimal and military with loads of fur thrown in-between, the bags on the other hand will appeal to those hailing from Asia. The same formula of classic shapes and luxe materials is applied, this time in shades of gold, yellow and mustard, colours that are favoured by Asian royalty and rich alike. Stand-out pieces include the gorgeous sunflower-yellow Peekaboo with tiger/leopard/cheetah lining (it is the Year of the Tiger after all) and a classic satchel that comes with a customisable luggage tag.

‘The Stepford Wives’ meets ‘The Addams Family’ was what immediately came to mind when I watched the Fall-Winter 2010 Womens Prada presentation online at Prada’s site. Stark and stoic with nary an ounce of joy, everything was muted and toned down. The bags too, were similarly presented, what looked like dyed raffia woven into clutches and bags, dulled plaids made up framed bags with the odd patent leather horror trimmed with exotic alligator.

Last but not least, we’ve got Dolce & Gabbana who paid an emotional tribute to their skilled, white-coated women and men in their ateliers who craft their product. Bags too (the Miss Sicily in particular) were kept simple in a lush variety of finishes and skins in an attempt to show off the detailed workmanship that Dolce & Gabbana is capable off, and cementing their position as the Italian luxury house of choice.
Sure there was nary a bag from the Fall-Winter 2010 Mens Dolce & Gabbana runway show; but I soon became captivated. Seriously, when faced with the likes of Noah Mills coming down the runway, where exactly do you start looking? It took me a while to focus but I’m sure liking those pants, sweats, err, what exactly are they?

The uber-gorgeous David Gandy. And those ‘sweat-pants’ again…

Really liked loved the boots too, all distressed and aged. Maybe I should just dig out my old pair and ‘wear’ it down on purpose.

Hot yes, but is this innerwear or outerwear? Or is it innerwear-as-outerwear? Catch the runway show again on demand here, as well as all the other goodies including backstage shots, detailed looks and runway stills.
