You get a limited edition capsule collection of course, with icons like the Lady Dior and Miss Dior reinterpreted as the artist saw fit; in the brightest of acid hues in shiny patent leathers and contrast stitching that makes everything pop like it’s the 80s all over again.

The Dior + Anselm Reyle collection is loud, almost irreverent, as far as the capsule collection is concerned, and one that won’t find many fans as far as the purists are concerned.

But for those longing for something upbeat, fun and totally in-your-face, these are exact pieces for you, from the camouflage print Panarea totes to the New Lock clutch, most of them accompanied with a pair of coloured triangles, the artist’s graphic signature. Watch the video, and see the artist at work.

Dior celebrates the launch of their Cruise 2012 Womens Dior collection with not one, but two short films that are tops in product placements as far as I’m concerned. Which is not necessarily a bad thing since it does give us a chance to see all the new offerings up close, which is always so much better than just static images.

The first one, L.A.dy Dior starring French actress Marion Cotillard, who ‘suffers’ from a nervous breakdown during a shoot, is a fun gem to watch. More importantly, look closely and you’ll see most (if not all) of the new variations of the Lady Dior, including the stunning edition that comes in sapphire, fuchsia and turquoise exotic croc.

For those who can’t see themselves spending so much for the croc Lady Dior, the regular leather version retails for SGD4800.

Next, we have a film by Ellen Von Unwerth titled I Found My Love In Portofino, which stars Jac Jagaciak and Antonio Navas.

Inspired by the beautiful port town and its quaint houses, it’s colourful, it’s romantic and it’s worth watching a couple of times, since you’ll be too distracted by the actors to focus on the accessories which are lovely, from the RTW pieces to the bags to the accessories like jewellery and scarves.

Selected pieces from the Cruise 2012 collection (like the SLGs shown above) are already available in Singapore at Dior boutiques at ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City and Marina Bay Sands.

In line with Dior’s new X’mas video titled ‘A Golden Christmas‘, I’ve come up with a few bags from the French luxury house in the same hue that are worth checking out. And kicking things off is the new tote, the Dior So Dior (SGD4200). Truth be told, there’s something about it that I still can’t quite put my finger on.

A tall, horizontal tote that’s all lambskin with the bottom half in Cannage stitching, it does remind me of a woman’s outfit, the half top tucked into a high-waisted belt. Finished off with metal shoulder chains in pale gold, it’s beautiful, yet bizarre, all at once.

Measuring 31 cm by 25.5 cm, I guess it’s the whole proportion of the tote that’s throwing me off, especially the length of the shoulder chains that’s a tad too long in my opinion. Other than that, I do like the fact that it comes with a pair of pockets (as well as a zip pocket) on the inside, which is always useful.

If you love the colour of the bag but are still not sure about the shape of the bag, then my go-to favourites from the house include the Lady Dior and the New Lock Wallet (SGD1250), both of which are available in the same lovely golden-beige hue.

Stunning, isn’t it? This variation of the Lady Dior (SGD6200) comes with her own ‘necklace’ of cascading pearls.

Before you go, check out the video I mentioned earlier. It’s a visual treat, I promise.

Giving you personal access to the world of Dior, expect a circular browser evoking the iconic rotunda in Dior boutiques, a wall of videos and ease of use going from page to page.

Check out the teaser video, and look out for more news when it finally gets launched online in the coming days. Before I sign off, here’a a quick question. Which designer brand’s online site do you personally like the most, and why?

Having just landed in Singapore this morning, the last 8 days or so in Paris have been magical as far as I’m concerned, catching runway presentations, going for re-sees and attending parties.

More importantly, I got the chance to see next season’s bags up close and personal, each collection more amazing and beautiful than the next. Here are some of my favourite pieces from Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton.

Held in the largest of all venues in Paris, the Chanel runway presentation always promises to be a show stopper, and the S/S12 collection proved to be no different. Held within the Grand Palais, the glass-domed roof was the perfect setting for the huge underwater scene in pristine white, complete with giant corals and sea shells.

Aptly, the bags that came out one after another each had some related theme, from clutches festooned with pearls in different hues to a small sling bag with a mermaid detailed on it. Other pieces included one resembling jellyfish, while another mimicked the clam shell.

Most interesting was the one that looked like the conch, and from what I’ve heard, it appears to be an actual clutch that should be included in next season’s offerings.

As far as Dior is concerned, Bill Gaytten decided not to rock the boat when it came to the bags, and instead chose to reinvent certain pieces for the S/S12 collection. Held in a huge tent on the grounds of Musée Rodin, he sent out Lady Dior bags with weaved leather bodies (yes, it does look look like rattan, doesn’t it?), complete with handles and side panels in luscious exotic skins.

Extremely lightweight (I had the chance to get up close and personal with them), the amount of workmanship that went into each piece was amazing. Other pieces I adored included the Lady Dior in patchwork tweed, and the Miss Dior in tweed with unfinished edges.

Opening to gasps from the audience was the S/S12 Louis Vuitton presentation, the all-white revolving carousel complete with models dressed in the prettiest of pastels. And if this were to be Marc Jacobs’ swansong collection, it was also certainly one of his best to date.

From the translucent bags that came with their own individual pouches to the drool-worthy handbags in delectable exotics, everything looked good enough to eat. Most surprising were the patent leather market baskets, that look to be perfect doubling up as next summer’s picnic bags. Available in two sizes and in a variety of pastel hues, they also came with their own interior lining that will prevent anything from falling out.

Any favourites so far?

First up, the Louis Vuitton Lockit Voyage Pulsion which should be available in Singapore in the coming month. Priced at SGD7950 for the larger version (shown above), as well as SGD4500 for the smaller, stuffed-toy looking one.

Next, the new Dior Miss Dior which most of you should be familiar with by now. This one (available in 4 variations based on size and length of chain), is made of quilted leather and adorned with all manner of finery retails from SGD4500 and up.

One of my F/W11 favourites from Bottega Veneta, the Lido in patchwork intrecciato nappa that retails for SGD7980. Pricey, yes, but isn’t she a beauty?

I could go on and on about the oversized clutches from F/W11 Miu Miu, but I shan’t. From SGD2560 and up.

From Balenciaga comes this unusual painted paisley clutch, available in different colour combinations and priced at SGD2830 each.

Don’t forget to check out the album I’ve created on Facebook either, where I’ll be uploading more ads with bags and their respective prices in SGD. Seen any personal favourites yet?

First seen on the runway of the F/W11 presentation in Paris (oh yes, the memories, they just keep on flooding back), the Dior Miss Dior is the French house’s latest offering as far as bags are concerned. Seen here modelled by none other than celebrated actress and singer Marion Cotillard, the Miss Dior is the epitome of ladylike elegance, a beautiful bag made even more stunning by the sum of its parts.

Hand-made in Dior’s workshops in keeping with the house’s traditional standards of craftsmanship, Christian Dior once said that true luxury requires genuine materials and the craftsman’s sincerity, and the Miss Dior is all that, and more.

Besides the bag proper, which in itself is a piece to marvel at in quilted leather or exquisite exotics like croc or lizard, the adventure starts when you explore its other intricate details. The clasp features a double press-stud closure which you can also lock with the key, the charms, a Dior signature. The shoulder sling, though made up of solid chain links, is sensuous and lush.

Check out the accompanying making-of video, which details the laborious process to make a single Miss Dior bag from start to finish. Individual pieces of croc are cut up and formed about a wooden mould to get its distinct shape. After that, the process continues with most of the stitching done by machine, with the more complicated bits done by hand.

The press-stud clasp is then added, along with the addition of all the remaining details like the chain link sling and signature charms. The end result? A new classic that looks set to be treasured in any collection for time to come.

Available now from SGD4500 and up, you can view them for yourself now at Dior boutiques island wide.
